As the war amongst music streaming services rages on, Pandora has added a highly respected musician to its ranks: Questlove. Officials announced Wednesday that The Roots drummer would serve as the company’s strategic advisor as well as its first-ever artist ambassador—marking a huge milestone for the service, as it attempts to compete with names like Apple Music and Spotify.
“Questlove is one of the most talented and influential artists of our time,” Pandora CEO Tim Westergren said in a statement. “His near encyclopedic knowledge of the theory and history of music and his abiding passion for supporting artists of all kinds is a perfect match for our mission. We’re thrilled to have his expertise and counsel, and to share his talents, insights and love of music with our over 78 million listeners.”
